Rumors suggest that Apple will be launching its successor to the iPad Air 2 in a March 15 event - the iPad Air 3.

Apple is planning to launch several new devices at an event on March 15. Rumors suggest that Apple will be launching its successor to the iPad Air 2 in that event - the iPad Air 3.

Here's the difference between the two Apple iPad Air flagship:

Design

The iPad Air 2 is a very thin tablet with dimensions 240 x 169.5 x 6.1mm. It weighs around 437 grams. Three color options are available for iPad Air 2 - Silver, Gold and Space Gray - and it also supports Touch ID.

The Apple iPad Air 3 is supposed to be very similar to the iPad Air 2. If the rumors are true, the iPad 3 would be the most identical iPad to its predecessor.

Display

The Apple iPad Air 2 sits in the middle of the tablet line up from Apple. The iPad Air 2 is equipped with a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 at 246ppi pixel density. The iPad Air 3, on the other hans, is believed to be holding the same display size of 9.7 inch and will be upping the resolution by 3112 x 2334 pixels. This will automatically increase the sharpness and clarity of the screen. Apple is also speculated to bring its latest pressure sensitive display technology to the iPad Air 3.

Hardware

The Apple iPad Air 2 is powered by the A8X chip and M8 motion processor. It also holds 2GB of RAM and there are three storage options - 16GB, 64GB and 128GB.

The iPad Air 3, on the other hand, may get a faster processor, which may likely be an A9X, just like what the iPad Pro has, or just an entirely new processor form Apple.

There are also rumors about the RAM of iPad Air 3. Apple may increase the RAM to 3GB but the storage options will remain the same.

If the rumors are to be believed, then Apple iPad Air 3 will be a device with same form factor and size as that of the iPad Air 2, with a better display and resolution than the latter.
