Ranked in the second and third spot behind Apple Watch, Gear S2 and Huawei Watch dominate the smartwatch market. It is therefore noted that the two devices can have a tough competition for 2016.
Here is a brief comparison between Gear S2 3G and the Huawei Watch.
Design
Initially, the Gear S2 3G is striking with its rotating bezel, which can be utilized to zoom into objects on the screen as well as select and navigate the apps. Furthermore, the smartwatch has a SIM card, which can be utilized to make and receive calls without the need for a smartphone. The built of the device has a round stainless steel body with two color options: silver and gray. The straps are made of matching colored plastic and can be submerged in water for about 30 minutes with an IP68 rating.
The Huawei Watch, on the other hand, is observably attractive. Every model has a round steel body with three color options for the basic ones: rose gold, white and black plating. One can choose steel or leather as options for the straps. Other variants for this smartwatch include selections for ladies, which are known as the Jewel and the Elegant. The watch has an IP67 certification to suit water and dust proof ratings. It can be submerged in 1 meter of water for about 30 minutes.
The OS for Gear S2 3G is Tizen, which only works with Android devices that runs on Android 4.4 or higher, with a minimum RAM capacity requirement of 1.5 or higher. The oS of Huawei Watch is Android Wear, which can be paired with Android or iOS devices.
Display
The Huawei Watch is packed with a 1.4-inches AMOLED display (36 percent bigger than Gear S2 3G) with 400x400P resolution at 286PPI density, while the Gear S2 3G has a 1.2-inches super AMOLED display with 360x360P resolution at 302PPI density. Basing on both device's pixel density, it is safe to mention that Gear S2 is 6 percent sharper than that of the Huawei Watch.
Specs
The hardware for a Gear S2 3G includes a dual-core chipset with 512MB of RAM and 4GB storage. The Huawei Watch includes a Snapdragon chipset with 512MB RAM and 4GB onboard storage.
Sensors
The Gear S2 3G includes a GPS, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope and heart rate sensor. The Huawei Watch, on the other hand, has an accelerometer, vibration motor gyroscope, heart rate sensor and barometer.
Price
The Huawei Watch base model is priced at $350, black and stainless steel version at $450 and Rose Gold version is priced at $800, while the Gear S2 3G is offered at a price of $350.
