Over two years has passed and one may have the current generation consoles such as the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Promotions have already started on what's in store for the next generation consoles. As what Paul Ross, Director of Technology and Criterion, says, the next-gen consoles are coming out more dynamic and believable.
So here are speculations or rumors circling around Xbox Two and PlayStation 5.
The next generation of consoles is predicted to be released sooner than the previous generations. The PlayStation 2 survived for six years, while PlayStation 3 lived up to seven years. The Xbox Two and PlayStation 5 are expected to come within the decade. The reason for the early release of the next-gen consoles is having technology evolving at a fast pace. If they come in late, they can be considered redundant, or perhaps a failure.
The first technology to be innovated is having a 4K resolution, which seems a logical move. There has been innovated the 4K televisions and 4K mobile phones, where graphical advancement and visual fidelity are the heart of this new system. The existing consoles of today don't have the power to deliver 4K content; however, if the makers of the next-gen consoles have to wait for four to five years, the technology can be missed out, and the 4K technology can turn obsolete.
The second technology is Virtual Reality, which can change the way one plays games. The first company to release a prototype is Oculus, which is currently owned by Facebook. The Rift and Oculus headset should be accessible for Xbox One and PC. The PlayStation will work on another exclusive headset, PlayStation VR. Let's leave this task to Sony for innovating this kind of device. Third in line is the Vive from Valve and HTC.
Combining advanced technology on the next-gen consoles may seem a great idea, as users don't have a need to buy new consoles pretty often and play with the most recent titles.
Here's a question though, would you like to spend much for the latest console? What types of features and technology would you like for your next-gen console? Leave your comments below.
