Next month will be big for "Sword Art Online" fans since reports indicate that the possible announcement for the third installment will be during the 2016 Sakura-Con.
According to the latest rumors, news concerning the hit anime series will be unveiled during the Sakura-Con, which is slated for March. While the rumors are not yet confirmed, many fans believe that the launch date will be announced during the event.
Rumors concerning the said event began circulating after its announcement on the anime's official Facebook page that creator Reki Kawahara will grace the event. Fans will raise questions about "Sword Art Online" season 3 during the event.
It is unclear how Kawahara will respond to fans' questions, but it is expected that he will focus on the developments that the season has gone through. It was initially reported that season 3 would debut sometime in 2016, although there was no official confirmation.
"Sword Art Online" season 1 debuted in 2012, before the second installment followed in 2014. A two-year gap was presumably the period for the developer company to release the next installment. This may not come to fruition considering the developer company is mum about the launch of season 3.
Fans are anticipating for a summer launch, but it might be too early for such hopes until creator Kawahara says something during the March event.
The next season is believed to revolve around the "Alicization" arc, featuring Kirito's job in the crime sector of a private firm. The character will be testing the so-called "Soul Translator" and his work will lead him to the "Underworld."
With regard to his romance with Asuna, there is no information on how the relationship will be portrayed in the third installment. Fans hope for more developments in the love relationship, but as far as the two seasons are concerned, viewers may have to be patient a little bit longer before the wedding happens for the couple.
The 2015 Sakura-Con will happen on March 25-27 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.
