A high-profile match between the Germany top flights' two best teams Borussia Dortmund (18-3-3, 57 points) and FC Bayern Munich (20-2-2, 62 points) is scheduled to take place at the Signal Iduna Park on March 5th, Saturday as the 2015-2016 Bundesliga season continues.

The Borussians will be looking to avenge their 1-5 loss to the defending champions in October of last year at the Allianz Arena as they meet for the second and last time this season.

Die Schwarzgelben blanked newly-promoted club SV Darmstadt 98, 2-0, on Wednesday at the Merck-Stadion am Bollenfalltor to extend their current winning run to three games, as reported by Goal.

Thomas Tuchel's side is also so far undefeated in the domestic league this year, which allowed them to stay in pace with the Bavarians at the top spot.

Colombian striker Adrian Ramos and defender Erik Durm provided the goals for Der BVB at the 38th and 53rd minutes respectively and the Die Lilien were not able to respond until the final whistle.

Meanwhile, Bayern suffered a surprise and disappointing loss to fifth-running team Mainz 05, 1-2, at their own home field of Allianz Arena on Wednesday, as per Daily Mail Online.

Die Nullfünfer midfielder Jairo opened the scoring at the 26th minute, which held on until the halftime break.

Der FCB managed to equalize it at the 64th courtesy of veteran winger Arjen Robben's goal off an Arturo Vidal assist, but Mainz struck again four minutes before full time, courtesy of Colombian forward Jhon Cordoba, to complete the stunning upset.

The loss, only Bayern's second of the season, snapped the team's eight-game unbeaten streak and allowed Dortmund to close the gap to five points in the overall standings and so this match on Saturday will be crucial for both squads.

If Borussia could pull off the win and give Bayern its first losing streak of the season, then they will cut the deficit to only two points, giving them a chance and enough games to take the title.

The predicted result is a hard-fought 2-1 decision for Bayern Munich.

Borussia Dortmund starting lineup (4-3-3 formation): Burki; Piszczek, Hummels, Bender, Schmelzer; Weigl, Mkhitaryan, Gundogan; Kagawa, Aubameyang, Reus

Bayern Munich starting lineup (4-1-4-1 formation): Neuer; Rafinha, Benatia, Alaba, Bernat; Vidal; Coman, Robben, Thiago, Müller; Lewandowski
