Capcom is imposing punishments on range quitters

According to the latest "Street Fighter V" status update, Capcom has communicated that it will have a major news drop this week on the types of modes and bug fixes it will bring, alongside the upcoming additional details on Alex.

The Japanese developer and publisher conveyed the information on its website where it also expressed that it will impose punishments for gamers with high disconnect rates (rage quitters). The developer commenced by thanking the entire gaming community for sending videos and reports detailing the behavior of rage quitters.

According to the report on the website, Capcom has been receiving numerous videos both on Unity and its social channels and resultantly, it has managed to cross reference the details with "Street Fighter V" server data to point out which gamers have been abusing the system. It also stated that it was not willing to start dishing out any punishments without appropriate proof.

As a response to the problem, Capcom is working with the "Street Fighter V" server team to come up with a system that identifies which players regularly abuse the system. Those with extremely high rage quitting rates will now get punished on a weekly basis.

The penalty will be docking and resetting of League Points and more solutions which will be communicated later. As of now, 30 players in "Street fighter V" server have already had their League Points docked.

According to Game Spot, rage quitting has become a serious issue in "Street Fighter V." As the game particulars reveal, when a player disconnects, there is often more to gain and maintain rather than sticking out until the end. Players, therefore, have been leaving matches to avoid losing their League points as well as their winning streak.

Till the final solution is published, "Street Fighter V" team will perform weekly sweeps in the system targeting the worst offenders of rage quitting. For that reason, players who have had a few instances of getting disconnected during matches will not be penalized.

Besides punishing rage quitting, "Street Fighter V" developer finished their communiqué by offering possible solutions to players who have issues with connecting to "Street Fighter V" servers. Recommendations are to check for the following ports in their routers and PCs:

  • TCP: 80, 443, 20002, 30840, 30850, 30870
  • UDP: 30840-30859, 30870-30879
