Google Nexus 2016 is a rumored upcoming flagship phone from Google.

Google Nexus fans have been eagerly anticipating for the Nexus 7 2016, and it is said to come out in May during Google's I/O Developers Conference.

The release rumor follows increasing discounts by retailers on the current Nexus models. The price cuts are a sign of Google being on the verge of introducing a new line of handsets, or retailers are working to clear their shelves to pave way for the latest models. However, there is no confirmation on the exact release date of the upcoming Nexus 7 2016.

Rumors point towards Google's I/O Developers Conference scheduled for May as the release date for the upcoming smartphone. According to Neurogadget, the event has revealed many new devices in the past, and the trend shows no sign of stopping this year. However, other rumors indicate that the upcoming Google smartphone might be released in October, a time when the current Nexus 6P was unveiled in 2015.

Meanwhile, there is no confirmation as to which company will produce the Nexus 7 2016. While some experts think that it would be made by Huawei, a Chinese company behind the current Nexus 6P, others believe that Nexus 7 2016 will be manufactured by Taiwanese manufacturer HTC, which is speculated to create several Nexus smartphones in 2016.

With regard to features, it is speculated that the upcoming Google Nexus 7 2016 will sport the same design as Google Pixel C tablet, which was released several months ago. Although they expect that the phone will have a 7-inch screen, there are those who believe Google should launch two kinds of tablets - a 7-inch and an 8-inch one, Greenbot reported.

It is rumored that the Nexus 7 2016 might be powered by either a Snapdragon 808 or Snapdragon 810 SoC. There are possibilities that the smartphone will ship with an NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor. In the event Huawei makes the tablet, it is expected that the device will run on Huawei's own Kirin 950 chipset.
