Mac BitTorrent client Transmission is now available for Windows, but the download link for it is not yet listed on the official download page

Transmission, Mac's the famous BitTorrent client has finally arrived for Microsoft Windows. The news was announced in a yet unadvertised Win-version of the app which is now available for Windows users, but the download link is not on the front yet.

The binary executable Transmission file is now available for download on its official website through its repository. Windows users can install it with the help of a daemon command line tools while these are not necessary for running the app, but it allows remote or browser-based client access to the users, Ghacks reported.

The latest release is not running a promotion, but people can test out its performance. Here is Transmission for Windows download link: https://download.transmissionbt.com/files/

The community-based torrent app has ruled over OS X and Linux distribution for over a decade and is known as one of the oldest and most used BitTorrent client. Since Transmission was launched in 2005, the dominant Mac and Linux application has steadily grown to millions of users.

Transmission currently is iterating through 2.92 version, which is also the latest version code for OS X and Linux platforms. The Windows variant of the app also appears very identical to the releases of the other operating systems, with streamlined interface and drags and drop feature, but first Windows users must associate the file type with the program.

Mike Gelfand, who is leading the Windows project, told TorrentFreak that a lot of progress has been made in recent months and the download link will be featured on download page after the next release is rolled out. He also added that the idea arose during a chit chat with Jordan Lee, who is another developer at the team and the realization came hitting them that lacking support for Windows had been the "biggest missing feature."

Gelfand further said that since that conversation with Lee, he came across many people who were interested to use their BitTorrent client on Windows since they had seen it in action on the other platforms.

Transmission is one of the most popular BitTorrent apps on Mac, while it also comes as a default BitTorrent client with several Linux operating systems. Admired for being "fast, easy and free," the performance of the latest app on Microsoft Windows will be measure in the coming days.

Now that Transmission is officially available for Windows, some might prefer this alternative method to install the app on the same platform.
