Rajon Rondo

The New York Knicks could be a possible destination for soon-to- be free agent Rajon Rondo as the Sacramento Kings point guard could be a "good fit" in the Big Apple, according to a report.

Rondo is set to hit the market this summer and plenty of NBA teams are expected to pursue the All-Star point guard. The Knicks could be one of the several clubs in the hunt for Rondo, with New York desperate to address their point guard issues.

While the interest between Rondo and the Knicks is not mutual, Nick Ziegler of Sports Illustrated's Fansided believes the 30-year-old point guard fits the bill in New York.

"The Knicks may not be a playoff team this season, but if they are able to add Rondo in addition to another year of development for Porzingis, they would be on the path to becoming one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference," Ziegler wrote.

"The uncertainty about who will be the coach for the Knicks next season could affect the decision of free agents, but Rondo would be a good fit for the Knicks next season."

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, interim coach Kurt Rambis is high on Rondo's potential in running the team's triangle offense. The report also cited that Rondo's agent Billy Duffy had a meeting with Knicks general manager Steve Mills earlier this month at Oracle Arena.

"According to an NBA source, coach Kurt Rambis is high on Rondo and what he can do in the triangle, and Knicks general manager Steve Mills huddled with agent Billy Duffy at Oracle Arena for a half-hour," Berman wrote.

The Knicks point guard rotation of Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant has been dismal this season, only posting a combined average of 6.2 points and 3.2 assists per game.

Rondo would be an instant boost in that position, with his career-high average of 11.8 points and 11.7 assists per contest. Moreover, Rondo's talent in finding teammates would greatly benefit the entire roster, most likely Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis.

This goes to say that, as of now, Rondo is the best available guy to run the Knicks' offense next season.
