Lebron James could form his new super team in one of the two teams in LA: Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.
Cleveland Cavaliers beat reporter Dave McMenamin of ESPN believes a team of superstars, which includes LBJ, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul, could happen either with the Lakers or Clippers in the near future.
McMenamin told Garbage Time with Katie Nolan: Podcast that while such scenario is possible, it likely would not happen this summer.
"Yeah. I do. I don't think it'll be this summer, but... LeBron says he wants to play with Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade. I don't think that's going to happen in Cleveland. I would say that would happen on one of those two teams in Los Angeles... But I think it will not be happening anytime soon," McMenamin said.
James and his super friends would instantly boost either of the LA-based teams, with a sure shot for an NBA title. For the Lakers, it would bring them back instantly atop the NBA power rankings, although it could cost them their core of young talents in Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle and D'Angelo Russell.
As for the Clippers, the may need to give up their core roster to make way for LBJ, Anthony, Wade and Paul. Such blockbuster signing may hurt the franchise's pocket, but there is a possibility it could work out if the quartet of top-talented stars is willing to take a major pay-cut.
"I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together," James told Bleacher Report's' Howard Beck in a story about the King's close relationship with Anthony.
"At least one, maybe one or two seasons-me, Melo, D-Wade, CP-we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that."
The Lakers seem to be the team where James, Anthony, Wade and Paul would join forces, considering the franchise's enormous cap-space this season, as well as the team's rich history in the league. But According to Harrison Faigen of SB Nation, the Lakers need to be creative and lucky to acquire all four superstars.
"Alternatively, the Lakers could continue with their rebuild for two more years while keeping their cap clean, hope that Paul opts into his one-year player option in 2017 and that James and Wade both take two-year deals this summer with third-year player options, and then count on all four [including Anthony] being willing to take substantial pay cuts to team up in Los Angeles," Faigen wrote.
"Basically, the Lakers would have to get incredibly lucky for this pipe-dream to happen, and even if it did, all four players will be older and in the midst of at least some level of decline."
It may not be a secret that a deal conspiring these players is not as simple as it looks, but it may also be more complicated than what others think.
