Masachika Kawata, 'Resident Evil' series producer of the Capcom company introduces the new 'Resident Evil' titles during the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Aisa press conference in Tokyo in 2015.

Capcom's next installment in the "Resident Evil" franchise will reportedly go back to the original horror story. The last two installments did not meet the expectations of fans.

The game developer has been listening to the fans' sentiments. As a result, Capcom has promised to go back to the first three installments as a source of inspiration in developing the upcoming "Resident Evil 7," according to NSEA Voice. However, fans should not raise their hope just yet but remain patient to get confirmation on the plot of the upcoming title.

The game developer must figure out a very creative and fascinating method to return dead names from the past titles to "Resident Evil 7." Some of the big names expected to come back include William Birkins and Nemesis. The two villains gave fans quite the fright in the past and they will make the perfect secret boss fight in the next installment.

Bringing back Birkins and Nemesis in the upcoming sequel will definitely strengthen the game's horror story. However, fans should wait for confirmation from Capcom on whether the two characters will return to "Resident Evil 7."

A previous report from Siliconera shared some of the answers of game producer Masachika Kawata during a Q&A forum for the 600th Dengeki PlayStation issue. With regard to "Resident Evil 7," the producer said they are "currently not at the state to talk about it" but added, please stay tuned."

Kawata was also asked concerning people's take on the series losing its horror touch, whereby he responded, "Since there's been more spinoff titles, I can see how it can be perceived in such a way. And of course I believe that we should produce titles that bring out the horror. I'm thinking about it and also preparing for it."

Other reports reveal that Capcom is planning to do a remake of "Resident Evil 2." Although many gamers are interested in getting more horror in the upcoming game, the remake is said to be inspired by "Resident Evil 6."
