Robert Downey Jr. and Lionel Wigram confirmed "Sherlock Holmes 3."

Good news Sherlock Holmes fanatics as new details have been revealed regarding "Sherlock Holmes 3's" script status and lead casts.

People could not stop talking about a third installment of the "Sherlock Holmes" movie franchise. According to IGN, it was in 2015 since fans heard a legit news about the development of "Sherlock Holmes 3," when the film's producer, Lionel Wigram, admitted that the team is working on its script; however, since then, news about the anticipated movie has been very rare.

It cannot be denied that Robert Downey Jr., who stars the lead role, has been spectacular in playing the genius detective. The charisma of the actor could be among the factors why the two "Sherlock" movies earned more than what was expected. However, reports claim that the actor's involvement as "Iron Man" in the Marvel universe is a big factor on why "Sherlock Holmes 3" will not be seen on the big screen anytime soon.

There could be a lot of causes why the management could not confirm the current status of "Sherlock Holmes 3," but the main reason may be because the lead actor of the film is currently busy doing other projects for Marvel.

It is said that "Captain America: Civil War," which will be released next month, may have hindered Downey Jr. from doing the third "Sherlock Holmes" film. According to a different report of IGN, "The Judge" fame may also work on another "Avengers" movie ("Avengers: Infinity War") or "Iron Man 4," which might leave "Sherlock Holmes 3" on the waiting list since the actor is totally irreplaceable, and that replacing him with another one could ruin the franchise.

Fortunately, it was reported that aside from Downey Jr.'s irreplaceable acting in being Sherlock Holmes, Jude Law, who plays Dr. John Watson, will also return to fill his role, as the two actors have already expressed their interest in doing "Sherlock Holmes 3."

Nevertheless, it would be best for the fans to be patient because it would be unlikely that the producers would not make a third installment for "Sherlock Holmes," knowing that the two movies were a box office hit. Perhaps, when Downey Jr. is clear from his responsibilities in the superhero world, then that might be the time that the team will pursue the actor for "Sherlock Holmes 3."
