The hit British television series "Doctor Who" has finished its ninth season in December 2015, followed by a Christmas special episode. Now, "Doctor Who" fans are wondering on when they can be able to see the Doctor again on small screen.
Recently, it has been reported that the next installment of the popular science-fiction show is not going to happen this year, and that fans will expect "Doctor Who" season 10 to premiere during the spring of 2017. The announcement left the fans heartbroken because they were expecting that season 10 of "Doctor Who" would air this year.
Although there will not be any "Doctor Who" season 10 in 2016, it was reported that fans would see "Doctor Who" on the small screen again on Dec. 25 as a part of the show's traditional Christmas special episode.
Another thing that fans should be thankful for is that their favorite science-fiction television series has been confirmed to have its eleventh season even before the airing of its 10th season, Cultbox reported. According to the same publication, "Doctor Who" season 11 will most probably be released by 2018, which is a year after season 10's release date. In regards to the number of episodes, it has been said that the show will likely have 12 episodes on its episode roster, plus an annual Christmas special episode.
In regards to the show's lead actor, Peter Capaldi, who plays the antagonist doctor, said that season 10 could be his final year as "Doctor Who," and that fans may see another actor to play the lead role in the eleventh installment.
Steven Moffat, who is currently the show's lead executive producer, said that this could be his last season as a showrunner for "Doctor Who." He even revealed that by season 11, the hit British science-fiction television series will have a new executive producer in the name of Chirstian Chibnall.
It was actually BBC which confirmed that season eleven's showrunner would be Chibnall, and that Moffat is going to step down from his executive producer status. Chibnail has written numerous episodes for "Doctor Who," and that includes "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" and "The Power of Three."
