‘My Love From The Star’ Season 2: Kim Soo Hyun, Jun Ji Hyun returning for round two?

It has been confirmed that the SBS' "My Love From The Star" will return to the small screen for a brand new second season.

After many months of rumors and speculation, series director Jang Tae Young finally admitted that the preparations for a second season of the mega-hit TV series' are already in the pipeline. Thus, numerous fans are already wondering whether who among the main cast, Kim Soo Hyun, Jun Ji Hyun, Park Hae Jin and Yoo In Na, would return for round two.

However, director Jang pointed out that the possibility of Kim and Jun, taking the lead role again remains hazy. Jang's remark continues to feed ongoing speculations claiming that the character of Do Min Joon and Cheon Song Yi will be played by other actors.

"Jun Ji Hyun has her new baby, and Kim Soo Hyun is due to enlist soon. So, unfortunately, it is impossible for them to reprise their roles for the second season," Soompi quoted the TV director as saying to the local media during his promotional event in China.

Now that director Jang plans to do another season, a local reporter asked him about the pressure he feels as a result of the current Song Joong Ki syndrome, where he responded, saying, "Kim Soo Hyun probably felt more pressure than I am. Directors just do their work."

To date, it is still not known whether the Season 2 would be a sequel or a prequel. Nonetheless, the TV director previously said that there are many stories that can be told considering that male titular character has lived through Joseon Dynasty, the Japanese colonial period in Korea and in the early 1970s, Drama Fever reported.

The 2013's blockbuster drama follows the story of an alien Do Min Joon, who has been stranded on earth since the Joseon Dynasty. He then lives through the next 400 years by holding a cynical view of human beings, but it all changed when he met the top Hallyu actress named Cheon Song Yi, and later develops feelings for her.

Due to the three successfully entwines' compelling genres - mystery, romance, and sci-fi, the TV show gained overwhelming fame not just in Asia but in the whole world. The TV show aired on SBS from Dec. 18, 2013, to Feb. 27, 204 for 21 episodes.
