2K Games recently announced that the third installment of "Mafia" series is finally hitting the gaming shelves on Oct. 7
On April 19, Tuesday, the game's official Twitter account revealed that the new open-world gangster game will be released for PlayStation4, Xbox One and PCs. The new revelation came with "Mafia III's" first action-packed trailer, giving fans a glimpse of what is coming.
The 2-minute long trailer showcased a bit more of the game's story and the reimagined New Bordeaux world. It has been learned that the game takes place in the late 1960s, wherein the story rotates around Lincoln Clay, a biracial orphan, and a Vietnam-war veteran.
"'Mafia III' introduces a truly open world, rich with its own criminal ecosystems to the franchise, while still upholding the strong narrative storytelling and immersive setting that the previous 'Mafia' games are known for," Hanger 13 head and creative director, Haden Blackman, said in a press release statement sent to GamesBeat.
The creative director went on to say that the reimagined game setting in the late 1960s has given an exceptional and powerful backdrop for the hard-bubbled story of crime, betrayal, loyalty and vengeance. With the game's open world design, it allows game players to take control of Clay's fate, who is on a quest to wage war against the Italian Mafia for the brutal murder of his surrogate family, Engadget reported.
In order to take down the mafia easily, players can interrogate non-playable characters after defeating them. Players can also assign one of the three allies, Vito Scaletta, Burke, and Cassandra, to assault and overwhelm areas owned by the adversary.
Following the release date announcement, 2K Games announced that the standard, limited deluxe and limited collector's editions are now available for pre-order, and stressed that players who purchase any of this edition will get a free digital content pack at launch, which adds three exclusive vehicles and weapons to the base game.
