YouTube's 6-second video ads cannot be skpped

YouTube is soon rolling out new 6-second video ads that will be completely inescapable because there will be no skip option. The new YouTube video ad format called "little haikus of videos" will be aimed at creating shorter video ads for more effective marketing.

Dissimilar to skippable TrueView ads that users can glide over, the new 6-second 'little haikus of video ads' run before the video contents play and last only six seconds compared to long ad formats that have no time restriction, AdWeek reported. The quicker advertising method will encourage markers to design shorter ads optimized for both mobile and less stick ad viewers.

Described as "little haikus of video ads" by the Google subsidiary, the new video ad format by YouTube will start displaying on the video portal starting from this month. However, not allowing the YouTube mobile users to skip the short ads might provoke a little or more protest on the part of entertainment seekers.

The new 6-second ads will be purchasable via Google Adwords and as of latest two companies have already revealed their version of 6-second video ads. Short video ads are not new to the YouTube as companies like Audi Germany had previously run a 45-second TrueView ad to measure its results against longer video ads.

Currently, Querpass Der Audi Q5 by Audi Germany and Red Bumbers by Atlantic Ads have uploaded their version of 6-second YouTube ads on their respective YouTube Channels. According to YouTube, early demonstrations with short advertisement methods get striking results couple with TrueView ad format.

YouTube also has premium ads that compared to other advertisements appear only with the most popular videos on the platform. "Bumper ads are ideal for driving incremental reach and frequency, especially on mobile, where 'snackable videos' perform well," NDTV  quoted Google product manager for video ads, Zach Lupei, as saying.

With over 1 billion visitors each month, YouTube ads are a huge source of revenue for Google. The new 6-second YouTube ads are expected to boost the company's revenue even further. Newsy speaks more on the story in the following video.
