'Overwatch' update: 'Origin' Edition, digital bonuses revealed [VIDEO]; Blizzard to launch 'Competitive Mode', 'Redesigned' version soon!

Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Blizzard Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.

"Overwatch" will feature several digital bonuses and "Origin" Edition of the game, as well as Blizzard announcing a "Competitive Mode" and "Redesigned" version soon.

Blizzard Entertainment launched the open beta test for "Overwatch" this week for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC platforms as the open beta will feature all 21 playable characters,12 in-game maps and four multiplayer modes. The game modes present in the open-beta includes "Quick Play", "Play vs. AI", "Custom Game", "Weekly Brawl modes", "Tutorial", "Practice Range", and "Practive vs. AI". Multiplayer modes will consist of "Assault", "Escort", Assault/Escort Hybrid and Control.

The "Overwatch" open beta will have a download size of 6.5 GB in the PC, while console users can download the game in the PS4 and Xbox One at 11 GB. The open beta will be available in several countries at 4pm.

In addition, Blizzard begun streaming a new trailer for "Overwatch" which features the game's "Origin" Edition and several digital bonuses, VG 24/7 reported. The "Origin" Edition will feature five alternate skins of characters Tracer, Reaper, Soldier: 76, Bastion and Pharah. Two of these costume revealed the past identities of Soldier: 76 and Reaper as Strike Commander Morrison and Black Watch Reyes, while Bastion, Pharah and Tracer will have costumes that are named Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Pharah and Slipstream Tracer.

The digital bonuses in "Overwatch" will be featured in other Blizzard Games such as "Diablo 3", "StarCraft 2", "HearthStone","World of Warcraft" and "Heroes of the Storm". Mercy's Wings will be an add-on into "Diablo 3", while new cards based on "Overwatch" will be featured in "HearthStone". "Overwatch" character portraits are present in "StarCraft 2", while baby Winston and Tracer are found in "World of Warcraft" and "Heroes of the Storm".

In other news, Blizzard has taken out "Competitive Mode" in the"Overwatch" open beta as game director Jeff Kaplan is the game's official forum website that after considering the gaming fans feedback from the closed beta test, they decided to not include it in the beta and in the main game during its launch this month.

However, Kaplan added that they will add "Competitive Mode" within "Overwatch" after its launch as he and Blizzard Entertainment are planning to have a "redesigned" version of the game soon, thus adding the game mode.

So far, Blizzard did not provide any details on the updated version of "Overwatch", nor did offer any kind of release date. Kaplan ended his statement by thanking fans for their feedback and patience as they continue to work on the game.

"Overwatch" is scheduled to be release on May 24 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
