South Korean actor Song Joong Ki plays the lead character of Captain Yoo Si Jin aka Big Boss in KBS' 'Descendants of the Sun.'

Song Joong Ki has donated his entire fee for appearing on a Chinese variety TV show, "Hurry Up, Brother," to an unnamed charity. His agency, Blossom Entertainment, did not reveal the amount of money he donated or the name of the charity.

In a statement obtained by All K-pop, a representative the actor's agency said that he has intended to donate his entire appearance fee from the beginning. He partook as a special guest in the fourth season of "Hurry Up, Brothers," along with the show's Chinese cast - Wong Cho Lam, Luhan, Deng Chao, Li Chen, Angelababy and Zheng Kai.

The Chinese variety show is based on the Korean popular variety show, "Running Man," wherein Song was one of the regular hosts from 2010 to 2011. The Korean "Running Man" cast is also expected to make a special appearance in the forthcoming special episode.

The special episode will hit the airwaves on May 13 at 9 PM on China's Zhejiang Television. It is expected to achieve impressive viewer ratings in light of Song's skyrocketed popularity in mainland China.

This is not the first time for Song to engage in charitable acts. Earlier reports noted that the actor has been secretly making donations to the Korean Childhood Leukemia Foundation (KCLF) since 2011 and was only revealed in early March when the foundation decided to announce it.

More than 10 children have already received medications with the funds Song provided anonymously for the past five years. The Hallyu star also previously donated around 100 million won ($85,521) through UNICEF to give assistance to the victims of Nepal earthquake, Destination K-pop reported.

In early 2011, the actor participated in the yellow ribbon campaign that aims to raise awareness about pediatric cancer. He also donated all the proceeds and rice wreath collected from narrating the award-winning special documentary called "Tears of the Antarctic."

Song started his acting career in 2008 in a period film called "A Frozen Flower." Best known for playing the lead role in "The Innocent Man", "A Werewolf Boy," and "Descendants of the Sun," he is expected to make a groundbreaking performance in the upcoming historical period film called "Battleship Island."
