Xbox, a flagship product of Microsoft, will once again surprise gamers with their plan of upgrades affecting the total appearance and performance of Xbox One. As part of a much larger scheme dubbed as "Project Helix," Microsoft will apparently introduce two new Xbox One consoles this year and the following year.
The reported upcoming brand new console from Microsoft is no surprise, but what is not commonly experienced is the unprecedented delivery of two new consoles in the market within a short period of time. And one may interpret this news of an upgrade as an answer of the tech giant to the rumored upgraded version of PS4 by Sony codenamed "Neo."
Though not official, the upcoming 2016 model of Xbox One will is said to be announced at E3 next month. According to anonymous sources, the 2016 model would likely have a larger storage of 2TB, which will be housed in a more compact body.
On the other hand, the 2017 Xbox model, codenamed Scorpio, is more likely to ignite the interest of gamers and would possibly increase the sales of the company. The point of interest would not only be centered on the powerful GPU of the model and the reported computing speed at 6 teraflops, but it would likewise be on the capability of the Xbox to support Oculus Rift. And with the said new features, it somehow supports the rumors that Microsoft intends to partner with Oculus, according to Kotaku.
This news of upgrades is just part of Microsoft's strategy in converging both of their flagship product, the PC and Xbox. The tech giant would like to see their products working together. In a sense, Microsoft's future games would be perfectly compatible on either of the two platforms, PC and Xbox. And this move somehow re-echoes the message of Microsoft's head of Xbox Phil Spencer regarding their products new hardware capability.
"When you look at the console space, I believe we will see more hardware innovation in the console space than we've ever seen," Polygon quoted Phil Spencer as saying. "You'll actually see us come out with new hardware capability during a generation allowing the same games to run backward and forward compatible."
Although there is still no confirmation or denial coming from its manufacturer, the news of an upgrade and new models of Xbox One is really exciting. Here below is a video presentation of the Xbox console evolution:
