Amber Heard and Johnny Depp attend the 'Black Mass' premiere during the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival at The Elgin on September 14, 2015 in Toronto, Canada.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard made headlines recently when the latter claimed that the former has been abusing her. Citing irreconcilable differences, the "London Fields" actress filed for divorce from the "Yoga Hosers" actor on May 23 after one year and three months of marriage.

In the latest issue of People magazine, new photos show Heard with an apparently bruised eye and cut lip. The facial injuries were allegedly caused by Depp during one severe incident in December 2015, in which Heard truly feared for her life as she claimed in her court filing accusing her husband of domestic violence.

Depp has yet to comment about the newly released photos. His divorce attorney Laura Wasser has responded to Heard's allegations by accusing her of alleging abuse in an attempt to secure a premature financial resolution.

Along with the divorce Heard filed is a request for a domestic violence restraining order, which has been granted by the judge. Depp is required to stay 100 yards away from his estranged wife until a hearing this June, according to the temporary restraining order obtained E! News.

In addition, the judge gave Heard the right to live in the family home. However, her request to keep Depp away from one of her dogs was denied because the judge did not find sufficient need to protect pet dog.

Both Depp and Heard are set to star on the big screen. The latter will star in the upcoming crime thriller film "London Fields," which is written by Roberta Hanley based on the novel by Martin Amis of the same name.

Directed by Matthew Cullen, "London Fields" was originally scheduled to be screen at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival but was pulled from the roster after the director accused the film's producers of fraud. Among Heard's co-stars in the film are Billy Bob Thornton, Theo James, Jaimie Alexander, Jason Isaacs and Cara Delevingne, among others.

Depp is also appearing in "London Fields" but he is uncredited. The actor is set to star in "Yoga Hosers," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" and "The Invisible Man."
