'Game of Thrones' Season 6 update: Sansa Stark's mysterious letter decoded

Sansa Stark goes behind Jon Snow’s back to pen down a mysterious letter in "Game of Thrones" Season 6 episode 7, "The Broken Man."

An avid "Game of Thrones" fan has decoded the letter that Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) was shown writing in the last episode. Although the contents of the letter were not shown in the show, a diligent fan has used photoshop and other technological skills to decode the whole letter.

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 episode 7 showed Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark failingly trying to rally the remaining northern houses to join them in their quest to retake Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon). In the last few scenes, Sansa is shown penning a mysterious letter, marking it with the Stark seal and preparing to send it on its way, all behind her brother's back.

A shot of the letter upside down was rotated and enhanced by a fan and posted it on Reddit and the majority of what was written was deciphered easily. As suspected, Sansa was writing to none other than her former guardian Lord Petyr Baelish, a.k.a. Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen).

"Now you have a chance to fulfill your promise. [...] Knights of the Vale are under your command. Ride north for Winterfell. Lend us your aid and I shall see to it that you are [well/properly] rewarded," read the letter.

Littlefinger is the stepfather of Robin Arryn, the Lord of the Vale, who commands the Knights of the Vale. Sansa is evidently hoping that Arryn's soldiers will come to her and Jon Snow's aid. However, instead of contacting Arryn, she tries to get in touch with Littlefinger, who she thinks is the one who really runs his kingdom.

Gillen has also declared recently that his manipulative character feels uncharacteristically remorseful about what happened to Sansa in Season 5. He also pressed that those feelings will play a vital part in his storyline for ongoing season.

"A lot of what I'm up to is atonement and really trying to align myself the right people - though, I guess, I'm always doing that! I left Sansa married to a psychopath," the 48-year-old Irish actor told Entertainment Weekly on the set of season 6 in Northern Ireland.
