After almost five years of gap, Larry David has decided to resurrect the hit American comedy series "Curb Your Enthusiasm." The series' last original episode was aired back in September 2011 and since then, the comedy fans have been desperately waiting for the next season to return back on HBO.

The network on June 14, Tuesday, announced the return of the ninth season of the hit comedy series that has won many hearts, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, the official return date has not been announced yet.

Since 2011, neither HBO or David ever publicly dismissed the idea of revisiting the show. While Michael Lombardo, HBO's former programming president had said that the network was optimistic about the return of the famous comedy series, David often appeared far less enthusiastic and optimistic.

"In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned,'" David said about his decision to revisit his alter ego, according to HBO.

After the last season of the show, David directed and appeared in 2013 HBO film presentation called "Clear History." In addition, he appeared on Saturday Night Live multiple times to present a parody of Bernie Sanders, the Democratic presidential candidate. The comedian also sat down recently on the NBC variety hour "Maya and Marty" for an interview with Jiminy Glick.

HBO's current president of programming said that the network is "thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can't wait to see what he has planned."

With 80 episodes till date, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is HBO's longest-running scripted drama or comedy series. The details of the new season of "Seinfield" co-creator's unsparing depiction of his life are expected to be released soon.

The return of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on HBO has brought in some good news for the network. The network has already been struggling with changes and shuffle in its executive team and the launch of just a few mediocre series. In fact, there are only a handful of new premiers planned for 2016 and the return of the famous comedy series is being considered as a step in the favor of the dwindling network.

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" has been nominated for Emmy Awards for 29 times. However, the show has been able to fetch only two awards till now. The last season of the show was the most popular one out of all. It pulled over 2 million viewers to a single episode.
