Speculations have been rife about Valve's third installment in the "Left 4 Dead" franchise. Latest reports indicate that the game developer has put "Half-Life 3" on hold to pave way for the development of the zombie first-person shooter.

Recent rumors suggest that Valve made "Left 4 Dead 3" a priority. The game developer has sacrificed the development of another much-anticipated game, "Half-Life 3," according to Gamerant.

The increased rumors about Valve working on "Left 4 Dead 3" follow the departure of Marc Laidlaw, "Half-Life" writer. Now, fans are concerned that the company may push the development of "Half-Life 3" even further.

With "Left 4 Dead 2" released back in 2009, avid fans have been clamoring for another sequel in the zombie first-person shooter franchise, according to Express UK. Seemingly, the game developer may have heard fans' request since it is now focusing on "Left 4 Dead 3."

The much-rumored third installment in the first-person zombie survival franchise is expected to release in 2017. Little is known about the upcoming game, but recent reports suggest that "Left 4 Dead 3" would feature four main characters. Valve might have decided to follow approach it did with its first two games.

Furthermore, the upcoming game will have one female character called Katherine. The other three characters are rumored to be Irvin, comic book fan Keenan, and a Kenpo martial artist named Garrett Jr.

With regard to the storyline, nothing is known yet but "Left 4 Dead 3" seemingly would feature maps from the previous installments. Some of the popular maps incorporated are "Cliff-hanger," "Crashland," "No Mercy," and "Early Destination."

Valve is yet to give an official release date for the upcoming game. However, with many details surfacing online, it may be confirmation that the company will indeed postpone "Half-Life 3."
