Swimmers will be able to track their progress with the new aptly-named Misfit Speedo Shine 2 that can work with different stroke types and count the laps around the pool.

Fitness trackers today are more geared towards the runner or the cyclist. Misfit has followed up their wearables line with the Speedo Shine 2 in order to give swimmers some love from the tech industry.

Athletic people want to monitor their progress in terms of the performance or weight loss. Most track can track how far a user has run but only a select few can actually help track the performance of swimmers because making waterproof electronics cost a lot of investment in the first place.

The new Misfit Speedo Shine 2 costs $132 and can link to the Misfit mobile app on a smartphone in order to log the activities done by the user, TechRadar has learned. It can also provide missed call and text message notifications.

Wearable tech comes in handy as a temporary proxy for when a smartphone cannot be used at the moment. For instance, the pool is no place to use a smartphone simply because it can get damaged if it is not waterproof or it can be dropped in the deepest part of a pool.

The Misfit Speedo Shine 2 also has upgraded light notifications that can be set to over 16 million colors, Mac Rumors reported. It also has a broader Bluetooth range and faster syncing with the connected smartphone.

Just like other fitness trackers, the wearable tech from Misfit can also track sleep and the basic running metrics. It can be submerged as deep as 50 meters under the water without being damaged which means the Speedo Shine 2 is really the ideal choice for swimmers looking to up their swimming game by breaking their own personal records.

Misfit and Speedo sells the Speedo Shine 2 for $119.99. Another one of its highlights is that it can last for up to six months thanks to the coin-cell battery which means charging can be done twice a year at most if the user is conservative in using all of the features of the fitness tracker.
