Samsung Galaxy Note 7 confirmed to sport Iris scanner, no Bio Blue 4K UHD screen

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Edge will feature the USB Type-C port instead of the usual micro USB.

Reliable leaker Evan Blass has confirmed that the Galaxy Note 7 will be skipping the Galaxy Note 6 name and it will indeed feature the rumored Samsung Iris scanner that earlier reports have been claiming.

Samsung has been quiet about their new phablet but the Galaxy Note 7 rumors do not stop surfacing. It is shaping up to be the their most powerful device so far compared to its predecessors.

The leaks have been coming from the @evleaks Twitter account updated by Blass, who has been giving accurate information about mobile devices for the past several months. One of his latest tweets regarding the new phablet is about the confirmation of the new name.

Blass said that he has confirmed that Samsung is will be using the Galaxy Note 7 name instead of the Galaxy Note 6 in order to be consistent with the continuity of the Galaxy S7 line, Mashable has learned. Earlier reports have speculated that they will be skipping the name to compete with the same number line with Apple's iPhone 7 this year and subsequent products in the future.

Besides the official name of the phablet itself, Blass has also confirmed that the rumored Samsung Iris scanner. Instead of a fingerprint sensor, the phone will be unlocked using the user's Iris which is faster and more secure.

There are also confirmations by Blass regarding the screen size of the new phablet. Blass tweeted that the Galaxy Note 7 will be sporting a 5.7-inch QHD AMOLED display and a 64GB internal storage capacity with microSD expandable support, 9 to 5 Mac reported.

Since the screen size and spec has been confirmed, it would mean that the new Samsung Bio Blue 4K UHD screen tech would only be making an appearance next year. It could be sported by the new Galaxy S8 or the foldable Galaxy X smartphone.

Samsung will unveil the new Galaxy Note 7 at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in August as the leaked press invites have shown. They will confirm whether the phablet will have the Samsung Iris scanner and provide the release date and the official price tag.
