Executive producer Jon Bokenkamp speaks

"The Blacklist" season 4 storyline may have an unsuspecting villain character close to Elizabeth Keen. This season may find a breakup between FBI and Red Reddington as a fallout by betrayal from Liz Keen and Mr. Kaplan.

According to Melty, "The Blacklist" season 4 will open with Red Reddington's psychological position believing that he does all for the sake of Liz Keen. However, Liz Keen hiding her identity as Elizabeth in and faking her death in "The Blacklist" season 3 to get away from Red Reddington is undeniable rejection.

In an interview with Entertainment Weeklyproducer Jon Bokenkamp gives an insightful answer that teases what to expect in Season 4. Bokenkamp said: "Red is devastated. On one hand, he understands the danger he's brought to Liz by being part of her life the past three years - he knew the dangers - but on the other hand, he's only cooperating with the FBI so he can be part of her life. Emotionally, Reddington is in a very tricky and precious place. There is nothing worse than blatant rejection."

In the same report, Megan Boone revealed that Liz Keen will continue to be interested in "The Blacklist" season 4 by the belief that Red Reddington does everything out of self-interest. Even when Red Reddington believes he is helping and protecting Liz Keen, the wily FBI asset does so with selfish intent.

Season 4 is all about hurtful Reddington seeking vengeance against almost everyone around him. The finale "Alexander Kirk: Conclusion" had him as the biggest fool around.

He has been betrayed by his trusted assistant Mr. Kaplan by hiding from him the real status of Liz. Liz had withdrawn herself away from Red and acted dead.

According to The Wall Street Journal "The Blacklist" Season 3 story was kept secret from cast and crew until the very end. Citing executive producer Jon Bokenkamp, the scenes in "The Blacklist" Season 3 where Liz Keen "came back to life" were all shot in secret.

In a statement with Cinema Blend, Eisendrath said, "Oh my God, who really is this person, what's his agenda and what is going to happen to Liz?' We're left with Red and everyone aware of the fact that Liz is alive, and she's also been abducted."

"The Blacklist" Season 4 is scheduled to return on September 22, 2016.
