'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' updates: PS4 release date confirmed on Oct. 25; Lord Slug, Janemba, Gogeta added to the roster, Super Saiyan 3 transformation [VIDEOS]

Bandai Namco announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox one and PC platforms.

New details on "Dragon Ball Super" will feature a confirmed release date for the PlayStation 4, three new playable characters and a Super Saiyan 3 transformation.

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced during the Anime Expo 2016 event the official release date of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" on Oct. 25 for the PS4, Xbox One consoles and the PC platform via Steam. In addition, a new gameplay trailer for the sequel featured new playable characters, new timelines and characters from the "Dragon Ball" franchise.

As seen in the trailer, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will a continue the story were the first game left off as a new protagonist is introduced to Time patrol Trunks, Supreme Kai of Time and the protagonist from the the first "Xenoverse" game. The team are still after the pair of Towa and Mira as they disrupt several important events in the "Dragon Ball" universe, Gamerant reported.

New characters are added into "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" such as Lord Slug, Janemba, Zarbon, Dodoria and Super Saiyan Gogeta. Lord Slug is the main antagonist of the "Dragon Ball" OVA film, "Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug" as an evil Super Namek, while both Gogeta and Janemba were first introduced in "Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn". Zarbon and Dodoria are part of Frieza's army during the "Namek" saga.

It was previously reported that Future Gohan, Turles and Cooler are added to the sequel's roster. "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will feature a new Hub city called "Conton city" and it is said that it is seven times bigger than the Tokitoki city in the first game. Gamers can fly through the citu or use transportation to explore other areas.

New combat changes are featured in "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will have Ki blast curving through the air as players fly towards their opponent. There will be new dash moves called "Homing Dash" that allows them to quickly move towards opponents and "Aura Burst Dash" that dodges opponents Ki blasts.

In addition, there is also a "Super Saiyan 3" transformation for the character customization in the sequel, which was not added to the first "Xenoverse" game, WCCFTech reported.

Game producer Masaki Hirano teased that content from "Dragon Ball Super" might be added to "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" as Hirano stated that he and Bandai Namco are planning to support the game by having free game updates and even paid DLC in the future.

There are also new details for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" at the Japan Expo 2016 on July 7-10 in Paris, France.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will launch on Oct. 25 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
