'Red Dead Redemption' is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar San Diego, produced by Rockstar Games and distributed by Take-Two Interactive.

Several games have been requested more than "Red Dead Redemption" since the announcement of Xbox 360 games that are backwards compatible on Xbox One. Earlier this year, Rockstar's game has been briefly available in unauthorized test form, but it will finally join the list of backwards compatible games on Friday, July 8.

Gamers who have "Red Dead Redemption" in digital form should see it appear in their "Ready to Install" list of games by the end of this week. Those who own the game in disc format will be prompted to install it as soon as they insert "Red Dead Redemption" disc into the Xbox One disc tray.

Over 200 Xbox 360 games are now playable on Xbox One and the number continues to increase every week as Microsoft opts to include both small and big titles to the list. Recent additions include "Portal 2" and "Left 4 Dead" from Valve.

The announcement of "Red Dead Redemption" backward compatibility comes from Rockstar Games itself, according to the company's official website. While there is no reason for this move, it is speculated that Rockstar seeking to improve support for the launch of the much-awaited "Red Dead Redemption 2." Fans expected some information about the upcoming installment during last month's E3, something that did not happen.

The arrival of "Red Dead Redemption" on Xbox One could be a pointer that news about "Red Dead Redemption 2" is imminent. The only surety is that the second installment in the series will happen, especially based on the popularity and positive comments from 2K Games.

However, it remains to be known as to when the game will be unveiled. For now, avid fans of the franchise can play the original game on a new console.

Meanwhile, rumors were rife on the internet that a trailer for "Red Dead Redemption 2" was scheduled to premiere at Sony's press conference on Monday, July 4, according to PlayStation Lifestyle. However, the trailer was pulled last minute because of the heartbreaking mass shooting in Orlando. It is reported that the teaser had an outlaw shooting up a tavern, something that Rockstar thought insensitive based on the recent events.
