Shanina Shaik, Michael B. Jordan, Jaimie Alexander and Nadine Leopold attend the Ninth Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Liberty State Park on June 4, 2016 in Jersey City, New Jersey.

"Blindspot" Season 2 will tackle different themes after Jane (Jaimie Alexander) learned more about her identity. In the finale of the NBC series' first season, she reached out to a former suspect named Ana Montes (Aimee Carrero) for help with Oscar (François Arnaud).

"It will surprise you not at all that the themes are redemption and family," Entertainment Weekly quoted executive producer Martin Gero as saying. He added that within the first two episodes "Blindspot" Season 2, the story will revolve around why Jane would join the mysterious group behind her tattoos.

In an interview with TV Guide, Gero confirmed that Oscar is definitely dead. He explained, "We have a rule, for now at least, maybe we'll break it in Season 4, but I think if you see someone die on camera, it's safe to say they're probably dead."

Gero pointed out that viewers never saw Sofia Varma (Sarita Choudhury) die. This is why it felt like it was not a cheat to bring back the former girlfriend of Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) and the Deputy Director of White House Political who faked her own death.

"Blindspot" Season 2 episode 1 will air on Sept. 14. In the episode, the identity of the anarchist group's leader named Shepherd will be revealed. Viewers will also find "Blindspot" Season 2. The new season will also introduce a new character to be played by "Good Wife" alum Archie Punjabi.

It has yet to be confirmed if Punjabi's character, which is a major recurring role, will be introduced immediately in "Blindspot" Season 2 episode 1. Her character is the head of a secret division of the NSA that has been monitoring the case of Alexander's character from afar.

Aside from reprising her role as Jane in "Blindspot" Season 2, Alexander is set to star in the psychological thriller "Broken Vows." In 2015, she starred in the crime thriller film "London Fields" with Amber Heard, Cara Delevingne, Theo James, Billy Bob Thornton, Jim Sturgess, Gemma Chan, Jason Isaacs, Lily Cole and Henry Garrett, among others.
