The "Gambit" movie will start shooting in spring of next year. The film is also expected to launch by October 2017 as suggested by several reports.
Despite several delays in production, "Gambit" movie may likely be pushing through with filming by next year. Executive Prroducer Simon Kinberg revealed they are hoping to start shooting the film by spring of 2017 during his interview with The Hashtag Show.
From its initial announced air date of October 2016, the film was moved to a later date with Kinberg explaining they needed to ensure a good script for the movie. During an interview in May, the Executive Producer said, "We just didn't get the script to the place that we all felt like that movie deserved. So we're still working on the script -- we're very close, actually, to being done with the script."
He continued that there was a time when they were ready to shoot the film but the script did not feel like it was ready. He also indicated some benchmarking when he said they wanted "Gambit" to become like "Deadpool." Kinberg also added that since a dawn of a new X-Men Universe series started, they wanted the movie to get it all right.
As previously reported, the Gambit character will be played by no other than Channing Tatum. Lea Seydoux will also be included in the roster of actors. While no air date has been confirmed, the possibility of a March or June 2017 release date has been speculated.
On the other hand, since the movie was first announced for an October 2016 launching, some speculates the new air date will be scheduled on Oct. 6, 2017, Hypable reported. Aside for some script technicalities pointed out as reason for the film's delay, Rupert Wyatt dropping out as director was also identified as one of the reasons. Wyatt's role was filled Robert Linan who will be taking over the director duties.
Aside from "Gambit," Fox already have pending films for production like "Deadpool 2" and another new "X-Men" film. More details are expected to be revealed once a launching date is confirmed.
