Stephanie and Shane McMahon is set to name the general manager for their respective brand on the July 18th episode of Monday Night Raw. The latest rumors suggest that Shane has found his SmackDown GM while Stephanie may name a legend as her Raw GM, Stone Cold Steve Austin.
The only son of Vince McMahon announced on Twitter that he has agreed to terms with the new general manager of SmackDown Live. It should be noted that this is a way to promote Raw and the upcoming WWE draft on July 19.
According to The Inquisitr, Stephanie should name Austin as her general manager. It would create a buzz for the WWE since he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest WWE superstar of all-time. Although he sporadically appears on the WWE Network for his podcast, seeing him every week on Raw is great for ratings.
The WWE Hall of Fame has served as co-general manager of Raw in 2003 after his sudden retirement. The ratings have been the number one problem for the WWE for the past couple of years in Stone Cold may be the answer.
However, Austin will only be effective as a Raw GM if the creative team makes great stories for him. The creative side of the WWE has been under fan scrutiny due to inconsistent storytelling and recycling storylines.
On the other hand, the rumored general manager for SmackDown is none other than the leader of the "YES! Movement," Daniel Bryan, Daily Wrestling News reported. The former WWE World Heavyweight champion retired in February due to health reasons.
The WWE's main goal for SmackDown is to improve its ratings and Bryan is the answer. He is one of the greatest babyfaces of all time. The fans genuinely loved his character as they were able to change the WWE's plan for WrestleMania 30.
Other potential general managers for both brands include Mick Foley, Sting, Edge, Eric Bischoff, Paul Heyman and Kurt Angle. With all the leaked reports and rumors, the WWE may pull a surprise and swerve the fans.
