Emilia Clarke claimed that her character will be able to defeat Cersei in the upcoming season of "Game of Thrones." Since Season 6 ended with Daenerys amassing her fleet of ships and soldiers, together with her three dragons and trusted counsel, GoT fans may be expecting her to be the one sitting at the Iron Throne once the season concludes.
However, before this happens, Khaleesi may have to face another alpha-female who was just crowned as the new ruler of Westeros. Cersei, who succeeded the Iron Throne after King Tommen committed suicide, is set to rule King's Landing once the upcoming season opens.
With the looming situation at hand, a face-off between these two strong female characters is highly-anticipated. Fans cannot help but speculate who between these two powerful women will triumph over another.
Clarke expressed her opinion in a recent interview, saying the odds are in favor of Daenerys. She pointed out that the Queen of Dragons got her share of ships, manpower and dragons that breathe fire. She added that the absence of an attractive man also makes it easier for her character to achieve what she wants, Unreality TV reported.
Clarke did acknowledge that although her character almost got everything she needs, she still needs the presence of Jorah Mormont whom she sent on a mission to find a cure for his greyscale. "The only thing missing is Jorah. He's gotta come back. I said I can't rule the Seven Kingdoms without him."
Meanwhile, HBO already released some details for the upcoming season including the episode count and filming locations, Hollywood Reporter reported. Production will start filming this summer based in Northern Ireland. Directors set for season 7 includes Mark Mylod, Jeremy Podeswa, Matt Shakman and Alan Taylor.
In addition, showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss also revealed a lesser episode count for the upcoming season and a latter commencement in production. They explained the show is waiting for a gloomy weather to take place in order to shoot the perfect scenes that would describe the winter atmosphere set to feature on the show.
All previous "Game of Thrones" seasons featured 10 episodes. But the upcoming season will only showcase seven episodes.
