PS4-Xbox One cross-network play for ‘Gwent’ ready, waiting for Sony: CD Projekt

CD Projekt demonstrates the gameplay of their upcoming online card game "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game."

Game developer CD Projekt's PlayStation 4 and Xbox One cross-network gameplay for "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" is ready. It was also revealed that they have a technical solution place for the PS4.

The game developer is eager to have a cross-network gameplay of their upcoming online card game. They even have the feature ready, and they are just waiting for Sony to give the go signal for it. CD Projekt CEO Marcin Iwinski told IGN in a statement that they are waiting for "Rocket League" to get approved first.

Iwinski said that their upcoming game will first be launched in closed beta for PC and Xbox One later this year. He confirmed that Microsoft has already given the go signal for the card game's cross-play feature for Xbox One and PC. The game company also confirmed that they are also open for cross-play feature for other consoles, if they the other companies will allow it.

A technical solution is already in place for the PS4, Iwinski revealed. He said that their studio would love to add Sony's console to their cross-play plan at the start of the card game's open beta. He added that to get the feature working, they only want the game company to say yes to their plan.

Other developers were also encouraged by Iwinski to show support on full cross-platform gameplay between the consoles and the PC. He added that this feature is for the players who love their games.

Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham shared the same idea. He said that this type of gameplay will most likely happen if more companies will show more interest in it. He also added that communities should get behind the idea.

In other "Gwent" related news, the game studio has revealed two new collector's items for the card game. According to its official website, they will be releasing Art of Witcher: GWENT Gallery Collection, and a polystone bust of the video game's main protagonist, Geralt, playing the card game.

The book is an extensive art collection that has the story of how the game was created, and shows all of the art pieces that have not been revealed yet. Dark Horse made the bust to honor the fans of the video game. It will have a height of 8.5 inches, and it will have a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Both of the collectible items' price and edition size will be determined at a later date. They will also go on sale on February 21, 2017.
