CD Projekt Red promises that "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" will have a balanced and fair gameplay for all players. The standalone game will also feature single player game that will compete with other regular online card games.
The game developers who created one of the best role playing game franchises of all time, has finally revealed an independent card game from the third game of the series. According to WCCFTech, anybody can try out this game when it is released, and it will be free to play. There is a notoriety of free to play games that let players purchase items or bonus stats to gain advantage against enemies, but the game developers promised that it will be otherwise.
According to VG247, the online card game will also get its own single player campaign, which each storyline spanning over 10 hours to complete. Comparing this to other recent card games, this one from the popular RPG will definitely be a big competitor when it comes to lengthy single player gameplay. This game will have full-fledged storylines for the game, lead characters, and voice actors.
Lead designer Damien Monnier said to PC Gamer in an interview, that their development team does not want to give any advantage to those who will pay real cash, and they will not force players to spend it on any point of the game. He said that their team claims that they have made a system that will not let players take advantage of paying cash, or grind too much to get card packs that they like, but they will not discuss it yet in detail.
Monnier also discussed how the transactions with real money will work with their online card game. Players will be able to purchase a card pack that will have special cards and the rest will be randomized. The card pack will have five cards, which will contain one card that players can pick and the other four will be randomly selected by the system. They can always finish a campaign to get card packs on their own, but spending money will be another option for them to choose from and not a requirement to win.
