Avid Ji Chang Wook fans will be happy with the latest news. The "Healer" actor has signed up for a role in tvN's new drama titled "K2" and may potentially star alongside Girl's Generation group member Im YoonA.
The South Korean actor's new drama project was announced by Glorious Entertainment, Chang Wook's agency, on Wednesday, July 27, according to allkpop. He is set to play the role of Kim Je Ha, a former mercenary soldier who eventually became a bodyguard and was hired by a presidential candidate's wife. Je Ha is said to have a dark past given his experience on the battlefield.
Chang Wook described his new "K2" role a "cold and unfeeling" man but has a certain charm that would make people notice him, as indicated in the same report. The actor also expressed his excitement over his new role. He commented that he is looking forward to seeing how Je Ha will interact with the tvN drama's other characters and his relationship with them.
The Korean actor also promised to do his best in preparing for his new project. He stated that he has been searching for a Korean drama to mark his comeback to the small screens. The last time fans saw Chang Wook in a Korean drama was the action-romance KBS2 drama "Healer" that aired in late 2014 until early 2015. He currently stars in the Chinese drama "The Whirlwind Girl."
In other news, Girl's Generation group member YoonA is said to be considering a role in tvN's upcoming "K2" drama. Although her casting has yet to be confirmed, the singer and actress reportedly have been favorably contemplating joining the drama's cast, Soompi reported.
If YoonA accepts the role, she will play Ko Anna, whose father is a presidential candidate while her mother is a famous actress. Her character has been described as a recluse who has a developed a psychological trauma given her parentage. She also has a fear of people (anthropophobia) and would suffer panic attacks from seeing flashing lights.
Other Korean stars who have been confirmed to join tvN's upcoming drama includes "Temptation" actor Lee Jung Jin, Jo Sung Ha, Song Yoon Ah and Kim Kap Soo. "K2" is expected to air in September.
