Google Nexus 9 and Pixel C receive Android Remix Marshmallow OS

Remix OS is a killer Android variant that brings a slick desktop-style interface to Android.

The latest version of Remix operating system (OS) based on the Android code 6.0 Marshmallow is now bringing Google Nexus 9 and Pixel C users closer to the Chrome OS. The version was reportedly applied to the two Google tablets, fulfilling the users' wishes, just like they had initially hoped to see.

The Jide Technology creation codenamed Remix 3.0 OS, is an Android-based platform that imitates the standard desktop interface. The new Remix OS works efficiently with windowed applications, giving users the ability to multitask where need be. Windowed operations, as well as the user's preferred shortcuts on the keyboard, are equivalently enabled in the Remix 3.0 capabilities.

The OS has revived a number of Android tablets that had been initially thought not to be the best alternatives as compared to notebooks of the same price. The 2-in-1 Pixel C and Nexus 9 are great examples of such Android tablets. Due to this, Jide Technology determined to build an Android version that would be suitable to operate in a desktop environment, Tom's Hardware reported.

While Google concentrates on delivering Android applications to the Chrome OS, it is improbable that Chrome OS would be incorporated in the Pixel C as a future upgrade. Therefore, the Remix OS remains the best option for users who wish to use Pixel C gadgets as mini-notebooks, as well as for PC owners whose devices cannot install the Chrome OS.

According to Android Community, the Remix 3.0 can only be found in torrent downloads. While this platform enables users to cut down on hosting costs, it would require the downloaders to have a torrent client such as the uTorrent in order to get the files needed to flash the Remix OS ROM into their devices.

Also, users would have to install Google services as they are not pre-installed. A tutorial on how to flash the remix 3.0 ROM has been displayed by Jide Technology on their website.

As it gains momentum, enthusiasts hope that more updates on the Remix 3.0 for PCs will promote the better acquisition of features by various device users in future.
