Bethesda Softworks vice president Pete Hines revealed that "Elder Scrolls VI" will be the next video game to be developed, rather than making high definition remasters of "Oblivion" or "Morrowind." He added that the two video games would be a large undertaking.
Hines said to Finder in an interview that making an HD remaster of "Oblivion" would be an interesting idea, but the game is already on its 10th year. "Morrowind" is also on its 14th year, which made it difficult for them to recreate with their older game engines. He also revealed that "Skyrim" and "Oblivion" had different processes for remastering the video games.
Hines revealed that making an HD remaster of "Oblivion" would be a difficult task to do, and would take longer to finish. He added that "Morrowind" would even take longer and more difficult to recreate. He said that they discussed about making HD remasters of the two video games, or developing the sixth installment of the game series.
The game developers did not want to spend too much time on remasters, Hines explained. They only made the other one for "Dishonored" since it was a new IP, which came out in the last year of a generation. He added that they did it because it was easier to do for the current generation platforms.
The vice president also revealed that they wanted to create a new video game, rather than remastering an existing one. He said that they did not want to take time and resources, on a game that is already out to bring it to a new platform.
In other "The Elder Scrolls" related news, "The Elder Scrolls: Legends" is now available in open beta. According to the official website of Bethesda, their digital card game is now available to download for free. Players can get it on their launcher, if they already have an account.
Hines revealed that they have lifted the NDA for those in the closed beta. They are also excited about the response they have received from the fans. The members of the gaming community have already uploaded their streams, and have discussed certain aspects of the game in their forums.
