Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker battle it out at WWE SummerSlam 2015.

The SummerSlam 2016 match card is already stacked with two weeks remaining but the WWE is already looking forward to the future. According to the latest rumors, the WWE is currently planning a huge main event for the Royal Rumble involving the reigning Universal Champion.

The WWE will be crowning the first-ever Universal Champion at SummerSlam when Finn Balor battles Seth Rollins. The two superstars have gone back and forth in their promos with Balor introducing his Demon character to the casual fans.

Wrestling fans are torn between the WWE superstars and the winner will be a real surprise at SummerSlam. Some reports are saying that Balor is going to win since he represents the "New Era" and it would be great for the product.

On the other hand, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer talked about the WWE's plans for Brock Lesnar in an appearance on the Live Audio Wrestling podcast. He mentioned that he would want the WWE to start a feud between Lesnar and Samoa Joe,

However, Meltzer thinks that the WWE will not do that but they might make The Beast Incarnate the No. 1 contender for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble next year. He also noted that Lesnar never got pinned when he lost the WWE World Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania 31.

"Dean Ambrose is on the other brand, and Brock never got pinned to lose the championship, so whoever wins between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, Brock should be going after them," Meltzer said, as transcribed by The Inquisitr.

According to NoDQ.com, Lesnar challenging for the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble is the early plans for next year. The company wants Lesnar to face whoever the champion at the event to set up an even bigger match at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando.

The former WWE and UFC heavyweight champion usually sits out the rest of the year following SummerSlam. He will be facing Randy Orton this year in Brooklyn. The WWE likely wants the heat on Lesnar for his failed drug tests to go away first before giving him another chance at a title.

As for the first-ever Universal champion, they will have the rest of the year to defend and build their reign before facing The Beast Incarnate. Nevertheless, Lesnar vs. Rollins, Balor or whoever will be a huge main event for the Royal Rumble since it kicks off the road to WrestleMania 33.
