Cesaro cut a shoot promo after the WWE Draft and it led to some backstage heat from top officials. However, the latest rumors suggest that the heat on Cesaro is slowly winding down and it will likely lead to a push later this year.
The Swiss Superman was on a role last year and it looked like he will be getting a much-deserved push. But he injured his shoulder and it required surgery that halted his momentum. He returned to a good pop but he became stagnant once again until his shoot promo.
After the WWE Draft, JoJo asked Cesaro about his thoughts on his draft position and Monday Night Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon and general manager Mick Foley. Since it was a WWE Network exclusive, the former U.S. champion cut an unscripted promo venting his frustrations about his position in the WWE.
As a result of the promo and the shots he fired towards top officials, several sources reported that he was some backstage heat. However, the heat might be the best thing he got because he has been on a roll lately.
According to Daily Wrestling News, Vince McMahon praised Cesaro for having the backbone to stand up for himself. It is noted that his frustrations will be turned into a storyline going forward that likely lead to a push.
Cesaro is also rumored to have lot supporters backstage and it is important that they back him during this time. The current plan is to have him stay relevant on television and keep him at a hot commodity. The rumors might be true since Cesaro appeared in the main event of this week's episode of Raw.
The 35-year-old was also put over by Daniel Bryan which the crowd reacted positively. Even though he got defeated by Rusev in their U.S. title match, it was via a Sheamus Brogue Kick and not a clean win. His rivalry with Sheamus likely continues on SummerSlam.
On the other hand, there are several reports saying that the WWE will shuffle the roster of both Raw and SmackDown. According to The Inquisitr, Raw might end up trading Kevin Owens, Cesaro and Darren Young in exchange for Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio.
If Cesaro ends up on SmackDown, his road to the WWE championship gets easier. He can also showcase his talent more since the blue brand is known for wrestling and not long segments.
