New "Spider-Man: Homecoming" details and spoilers will the casting of Shocker and The Tinkerer in the film and the possibility of the Sinister Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios announced new cast members for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" as "Orange is the New Black" actor Michael Termus and "Total Recall" actor Bokeem Woodbine will the play two of Peter Parker/Spider-Man's (Tom Holland) hated enemies in the film.
Termus is known for several movies and TV series stints such as "Captain Philips", "Aloha", The Bourne Legacy" and the upcoming Netflix series "The Most Hated Woman in America". It was previously reported that Logan Marshall-Green was hinted to play Phineas Mason/The Tinkerer in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" until the official announcement.
According to Heroic Hollywood, this version of the Tinkerer is a former employee of Stark Industries, but was fired by Tony Stark/Iron Man for yet unknown reasons. Further information revealed that theTinkerer will be helping out Vulture (Michael Keaton) with his suit, along with Shocker (Termus).
The Shocker was first hinted by Twitter username Griffin Newman 2016 who tweeted the toy panel of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con event and "accidentally" confirmed that the villain is added to the film.
When several twitter users asked for more details, Newman, however, stated that Diamond Select did not show any pictures of what the figures would look like, since they do not have enough reference points for specific characters at this point in time.
Now that Termus will be playing Shocker in the film, it seems that Spider-Man will have a hard time fighting not just one villain, but two as well.
With the presence of The Vulture, Shocker and The Tinkerer in "Spider-Man: Homecoming", fans begun speculating that Marvel Studios could set-up the Sinister Six in the MCU soon, Melty reported.
Sony previously had plans for a "Sinister Six" film as part of the "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise along with "Venom". It was a direct competition for Warner Bros. produced film "Suicide Squad", which is also a super villain focused movie.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" film credits already teased the formation of the Sinister Six members such as Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter, Black Cat, Doctor Octopus, Rhino and Vulture. Unfortunately, Sony scrapped their plans for "Sinister Six" since they have announced that Spider-Man will be moving to the Marvel Studios.
These leads to the question if the Sinister Six will be included in the MCU if "Spider-Man: Homecoming" became a huge hit in cinemas worldwide. Comic book fans will just have to wait for more details from Marvel Studios soon.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be release on July 7, 2017.
