Lee Min-ho is a South Korean actor, singer and model. He first gained widespread fame with Boys Over Flowers as Gu Jun-pyo in 2009.

Christmas came a little early to thousand of children in the form of a surprise gift from "Bounty Hunters" star Lee Min Ho.

On Aug. 10, Wednesday, the 29-year-old Hallyu star posted plans for his new donation project, dubbed the "Transparent Umbrella Project," on the Korean crowdfunding platform, StoryFunding, The Kpop Herald reported. It aims to distribute 2,500 free transparent umbrellas to ensure the security of the children on a stormy day and maintain a strategic distance from mischances.

"The Heirs" actor pledged to implement the donation project if the number of "hearts" surpassed 2million. It is worth noting that the action of giving "hearts" does not require any payment.

Much to their surprise, the venture had successfully earned 2 million "hearts" after 10 hours. Earlier reports claimed that Lee has encouraged elementary schools across South Korea to partake in the project.

This is not the first time for Lee to be engaged in charitable works. On June 21, the Hallyu star received "The Sharing Happiness Award" at the first annual Sharing Happiness Awards Ceremony, Sejong Hotel, Seoul.

The said award is given by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to individuals or groups who have raised social awareness and has contributed to spreading the culture of sharing.

"In order to try to repay the great love I receive from many fans all over the world, I have practiced sharing," Soompi quoted Lee as saying. "I will try to continuously be interested in those who need a helping hand and grow as an actor who embraces the world with a warm heart."

Lee became a household name in South Korea after starring as Gu Jun-Pyo in KBS's "Boys Over Flowers" (2009). After the series ended, Lee became the faces of various endorsements and advertisements such as cosmetic brands, clothing, food labels and more.

He experienced a resurgence in his fame internationally and was named as one of the top Hallyu stars after portraying the hot-headed and at times immature, Kim Tan, in SBS's "The Heirs."

Now, Lee will make his small-screen comeback in "The Legend of the Blue Sea," an upcoming fantasy drama to be directed by PD Jin Hyuk. The 20-episode drama, which also stars actress Jun Ji-Hyun, is scheduled to premiere in November.
