With Ahn Jae Hyun, Park So Dam, Jung II-Woo, and Lee Jung Shin as lead stars, tvN's "Cinderella and Four Knights" is bound to inspire comparisons to KBS 2TV's "Boys Over Flowers."
"Cinderella and Four Knights" spins the modern-day Cinderella story of a poor high-school student who attracts the interest of the three chaebols cousins and their bodyguard. Just as "Boys Over Flowers" follows Geum Jan-Di (Ku Hye-sun) who attends the exclusive Shinhwa High School and meets the notorious group of four incredibly gorgeous and rich young men known as F4.
"It feels a little bit like 'Boys Over Flowers'," Soompi quoted Ahn as saying during the upcoming drama's press conference on Aug. 10, Wednesday. "The relationship between the characters are similar, and it is all about all the men around the female protagonist."
In light of the two drama's similarities, the "Blood" actor revealed that he and wife Ku Hye-Sun, 31, always discussed how he should portray his character as a womanizer in the upcoming drama. He will play the Casanova type of person, Kang Hyung-Min, who enduringly believes he can woo any woman.
Ahn's Kang Hyung-Min will have a confrontation with Kang Ji-Woon (Jung) over the heroine, Eun Ha-Won (Park). Helmed by PD Kwon Hyuk-Chan, "Cinderella and Four Knights" also stars Lee Jung-Shin, Son Na-Eun, Choi Min, Kim Yong-Geon, and Kim Hye-Ri.
"I did the drama after doing what I wanted most in life: get married," Ahn added. "She was of course very supportive, but more than that, I was able to act comfortable. I am so thankful to Ku Hye Sun."
Ahn and Ku, who first met while working together in 2015 KBS2 drama "Blood," officially registered their marriage at the Gangnam district office on May 20. Instead of having a traditional wedding ceremony, the couple donated the money to a hospital pediatrics ward, One YG Family reported.
tvN's "Cinderella and Four Knights" is set to premiere simultaneously in 63 countries on Aug. 12 at 11:00 PM (KST). Check out the trailer below:
