The upcoming new season of "Game of Thrones" is expected to feature a thrilling storyline as the HBO hit show nears its penultimate chapter. Cast member Kit Harington has recently hinted of some interesting information that fans can expect from Jon Snow, the White Walkers and more.

Season 7 is gearing up to become one of the most exciting chapters to the TV adaptation of George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels. Avid viewers of the HBO show "Game of Thrones" has been looking forward to learning more about the new season and the fate of beloved characters. The series is currently on a season break, although snippets of what fans may expect continue to flood the internet.

The latest spoiler news comes from cast member Harington who gave a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter. When asked about the new season's winter setting and how it will affect beloved characters, the actor made mention of a darker world. He teased that his character Jon will have a challenging time in Season 7, including some of the key players in the HBO series.

Harington hinted that some of the characters will go through a bleak and dark period. "I think it's going to get very dark before it gets better," he added. The actor also commented on his character's heroic moments in the series. He even made mention of some of the new season's threats such as the Army of the Dead and the White Walkers. However, he did not disclose other details.

On the other hand, Harington clarified that what he shared were purely storyline speculations on his part. At that time of the said interview, the actor has yet to receive the scripts for the new season.

In other news, a casting call for the HBO series has unveiled some of the new characters that fans will see in Season 7, Watchers on the Wall reported. The new characters include gate and city guards, a "lovely lady," a merchant, a "young lord," a 60-year old priest and a tough looking warrior. It appears that the show is also looking for actors to play the role of two military officers, a general and a young lieutenant.

It is still unclear whether some of these characters will play a critical role in the upcoming new season. The show's casting calls typically contain generic character titles.

"Game of Thrones" Season 7 is expected to air in summer 2017.
