The Flash is a CW Network series developed by writer/producers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns.

The latest details and spoilers for "The Flash" season 3 will feature a new promo trailer for the show and the identity of Todd Lasance's character.

"Vampire Diaries" star Todd Lasance has been added to "The Flash" TV series to play a new speedster villain for season 3. Several behind-the-scenes photos revealed Lasance's character wearing a black suit with red and yellow details alongside Wally West/Kid Flash (Keynan Lonsdale).

Several fans speculated that the new speedster villain could be the TV version of Black Racer, Zavatar, Future Barry Allen or even Inertia. However, it has been confirmed that Lasance will be playing Edward Clariss/The Rival, an enemy of the first Flash Jay Garrick in the comics, TVLine reported.

Edward Clariss in the DC comics is a professor and fellow scientist in the same university where Jay works and has developed a speed formula called Velocity 9 to gain super speed, but the effects of the drug drove Clariss insane and has fought The Flash several times. Clariss eventually vanished to the Speed Force after reaching light speed.

"The Flash" season 3 will introduce more villains aside from The Rival such as Top, Mirror Master, Thorn, Magenta. Dr. Alchemy and Zavatar.

In other news, a new promo trailer for "The Flash" season 3 will feature Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) explaining the situation on the "Flashpoint" timeline to an alternate future version of Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes).

The trailer sees Barry changing the future timeline after saving his mother, Nora (Michelle Harrison) from the being killed by Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher). This led to Barry changing the present timeline and his relationship with his friends such as Cisco, Caitlin Snow (Dannielle Panabaker), Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris West (Candice Patton).

However, Barry slowly realizes that the timeline he made is back firing against him as he tries to fix everything that has been changed and seeks Cisco's help with the latter replying that there is a timeline out there where he is not rich and calls it a "major glitch" in the universe, Screenrant reported.

Gustin teased the possible threat that could happen in "The Flash" season 3 as the "Flashpoint" timeline begins to replace Barry's memories from his "true" present timeline to the point that he might lose his powers because he did not remember them.

"The Flash" season 3 will premiere on Oct. 4 at 8pm on the CW Network.
