‘Prison Break’ Season 5 air date, news & update: ‘Prison Break’ Season 5 to show the biggest escape plan; Season 6 might still be possible

Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will be returning in 2017 as the lead stars in "Prison Break" Season 5.

It was 7 years ago when the hit serial drama series, "Prison Break," concluded its fourth season with a two episode finale. With the series already confirmed to have a fifth season, recent reports claim that the show might still have a sixth installment.

Reports said that fans did not expect about "Prison Break" returning for another season after the fourth season showed how one of the lead characters, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), suffered a severe injury and was shown to be dead, Creators has learned. The publication also revealed how the fifth season came to reality.

It was said that Miller and Dominic Purcell talked about the possibility of reviving their hit series, "Prison Break," while still doing DC's "Legends of Tomorrow." Miller said on an interview that he and Purcell talked to Fox if the network would still be interested in rebooting the show, and they were delighted to hear the network's response regarding its excitement for the fifth season.

According to the same publication, the main characters of the show will return that includes Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies), T-Bag (Robert Knepper), Sucre (Amaury Nolasco), C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar), and Paul Kellerman (Paul Aldestein). The report did also note the entry of Michael and Sara's son in the series. The possible tension between Sara's new husband Scot Ness (Royal Mark Feuerstein) and Michael was also cited.

In regards to the plot of "Prison Break" Season 5, the co-chairman of Fox's Television Group, Dana Walden, said that the upcoming season will start several years after the death scene of Michael. The season will also explain how Michael survived and what happened to him after that, Digital Spy reported. It was said that Michael was placed in a foreign prison due to his involvement with a terrorist organization, and that the team will execute the biggest escape plan for Michael.

The publication exposed a slight a chance of having a sixth season despite of the reports claiming that the fifth season of "Prison Break" will be its last and closure 9-episode season. Miller said that fans should remain optimistic, because a sixth installment might still be possible as he is open to talk about it.
