The highly-awaited "Prison Break" revival on FOX is already keeping fans on the edge, as the show's creators and actors drop details on the project little by little. The "limited event series" will bring back its original stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell and Sarah Wayne Callies, and there's a possibility that more seasons might come out in the future.
The upcoming "Prison Break" reboot will only air nine episodes, but the show's team of writers assure fans that there will be more action-packed scenes to be seen. The "Prison Break" writers room Twitter account posted, "For this season, 9 is the final number, but we've packed a lot of awesome in those 9 eps."
The writers added that while they already have an ending to the story, there's always new story to tell if there's a demand for it.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Miller also stated that he'd be willing to do more episodes as Michael Scofield.
"If the story was worth telling - that's the only reason I signed up to this nine-episode reboot," Miller said about the possibility of extending his "Prison Break" stint. "We want to do something that's going to stand beside what came before. If we can't do it right, best not to do it at all. So if Fox or [creator] Paul Scheuring or whoever came to me and said, 'We have another idea for another installment beyond this one,' I'd be interested in listening."
In the meantime, Miller promised that the "Prison Break" reboot will have everything the fans loved about the show. "There's prison, action-adventure, themes of brotherhood and loyalty and sacrifice," Miller teased.
The "Prison Break" revival picks up years after the events in Season 4 finale. Lincoln (Purcell) discovers that his brother is actually alive after years of being thought dead. He heads out to a Yemeni prison where Michael is confined for allegedly dealing drugs with the Islamic State. "We're planning our biggest escape," Purcell teased.
"Prison Break" Season 5 will be out in 2017 on Fox. The show will also bring out original cast members such as Robert Knepper, Amaury Nolasco and Rockmond Dunbar.
