Directed by J. J. Abrams, "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens" stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Lupita Nyong'o.

All those "Star Wars" fans who were worried about Luke Skywalker's feeble presence in "The Force Awakens" can finally rejoice as Mark Hamill has hinted at his return in episode 9. The actor's recent Twitter post is enough to give them positive news as it indicates at him featuring in at least two films.

On August 30, Tuesday, Hamill posted a video on Twitter that shows him getting his facial hair shaved, reports ABC News. He also left a small message saying that he has not seen his chin since May 15 along with #FarewellFacialFur & #ByeByeBeard (at least til #EpisodeIX). What caught the attention of the fans was the mention of episode IX.

Many feel that it is an indication that he may not die in the next film. Though it is still not confirmed if he will survive, it is expected that he will star in at least two more films of the franchise. Also, he might die because the franchise is known to kill major characters, but the good news is that he might return as a Force ghost. Jedi masters have undertaken this route in the past.

Notably, Hamill has been donning his beard for around one and a half year as part of his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. In fact, this very year in February, director Rian Johnson shared a video of Daisy Ridley and Hamill shooting on Skellig Michael for episode 8 and Hamill's glorious beard was intact at that time.

Meanwhile, there are still a couple of years during which fans can enjoy the Star Wars films. Episode 9 is slated to release in 2019, reports Games Radar. As for "Star Wars 8," it is into post-production at present and will feature Hamill in a prominent role. He has much more screen time in comparison to "The Force Awakens." In other words, fans of Skywalker are going to get a good dose of him on screen and thus, there is no need to worry about his departure or demise.

"Star Wars: Episode 8" hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
