'Overwatch' DLC rumors: New character Athena to launch first before Sombra [VIDEO]; 'Competitive Mode' season 2 available for PS4, Xbox One, PC!

Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Blizzard Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.

The latest details for "Overwatch" will feature a new character being introduce in the game and "Competitive Mode" season 2 available in the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.

Several rumors are making rounds regarding a new hero being added to the roster of "Overwatch" as the A.I. software named Athena will be joining the fight soon. Gamers who knew Athena as "Overwatch's" announcer and has been featured in the animated short "Recall", along with Winston and Reaper.

Further speculation revealed that Athena will be sporting an Omnic body based from an old photo of the Overwatch team right before the organization disbanded. Her Omnic body will have a female shape with a single eye and a logo of her name on her head.

It has also been theorized that Athena may join "Overwatch" as a support for other heroes, other rumors stated that Athena could be released first before Sombra.

New clues for Sombra have been revealed as the Sombra Protocol version change from "v1.9" to "v.195".
Questions have been raised about the consistency of the Sombra counter, but it seems that the counter only became consistent after hitting around five percent.

It is estimated that the percentage counter increases by 0.0038 every three minutes. Based on the counter's progress, it may reach 100 percent on October 17 at the latest. Of course, Sombra's release date would have to be approved by Blizzard Entertainment, iTechPost reported.

YouTube username Rhykker speculated that codes were manually updated or an outside script manually changing the counter percentage.

So far, Blizzard Entertainement has yet to officially confirm if these rumored characters are true.

In other news, Blizzard announced the "Competitive Mode" season 2 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Season 2 was originally going to launch on Sept. 6, but it seems that Blizzard wanted to surprised gaming fans by releasing it earlier today.

It was first ported for the PC and Xbox One platforms, while PS4 version was a little late due to some issues with te PSN, but thankfully the "Overwatch" Twitter page tweeted an update and it will also launch in the console today.

Gamers will notice some big changes in "Competitive Mode" within "Overwatch" as Blizzard implemented harsher penalties for gamers that repeatedly quit during the session, and repeat offenders could find themselves banned for the entire season 2. There are also skill tiers and skill rating scale that ranges from 1 to 5,000 instead of 1 to 100.

Lastly, players will be able to fight to a draw in ranked matches, whereas before a tie initiated a sudden death round. Blizzard decided to get rid of sudden death due rules due to many complaints, but some gamers may still prefer it to a tie. In addition to "Competitive Mode" season 2, there is also a new map called Eichenwalde map, Gamerant reported.

"Overwatch" is currently available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
