The latest details for "Final Fantasy XV" will feature a new magic system, reasons for the sequel's delay and the PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio versions coming soon.
Square Enix revealed new details regarding "Final Fantasy XV's" development as game director Hajime Tabata explained the real reason behind the November launch date. "Final Fantasy XV" was supposed to launch of Sept. 30, but was suddenly moved to a Nov. 29 release date.
Game director Hajime Tabata stated in an interview that the reason for the delay is due to "Final Fantasy XV" having difficult optimization problems with various bugs and sudden frame rate drops. Tabata and his team are currently fixing the problem.
Square Enix added that they also wanted "Final Fantasy XV" to be balanced and Tabata would want to fix whatever problems that sequel has before its launches on November instead of making a patch update to support in on the first day. Tabata added that not everyone has their console connected to the internet despite having the service. Therefore, there may be some players who would not apply a day one patch. He cited data from Japan which states more than 20% do not have their consoles connected online, as well South America, VG 24/7 reported.
In other news, Square Enix showcased a new magic system for "Final Fantasy XV" during the Gamescom 2016 event.
Tabata shared what is new to the magic system as he explained that he and his team wanted it to feel as though magic is part of the physics of this world and is a real physical phenomenon as well as being this strange and mysterious energy, but that it really felt part of the game world.
Square Enix believed that the design of the magic for "Final Fantasy XV" is very much based on the idea that in order to make something impactful or impressive it should not be just about having lots of different spells available. As such, the developers limited it down to a smaller number of well designed, individual ones and then added a system where the player could craft and change and tweak all the capabilities of all these spells to their own liking.
Tabata added that gamers can put together different combination of magics and use different items to enhance it more. Whatever magic the gamers create it will have a kind of bonus effect, Siliconera reported. Square Enix also release a new trailer for "Final Fantasy XV" that features the world of Eos through the eyes of Noctis.
Lastly, Square Enix looks to expand "Final Fantasy XV" outside of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as game director Hajime Tabata stated in an interview that he looks to have the sequel ported to updated PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio soon.
However, Tabata explained that he and Square Enix will priorities the PS4 and Xbox One versions first upon its released date on September. Tabata admitted at one time that he just heard of the Xbox Scorpio and has not have plans for it, and yet he is interested in its capacity and performance, hoping he will someday put "Final Fantasy XV" in it soon.
Previous reports hinted that Square Enix will not likely put "Final Fantasy XV" on the Nintendo NX and that the PC version of the sequel is still under consideration.
"Final Fantasy XV" will launch on Nov. 29 for PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
