"Duke Nukem 3D", godfather of the first person shooter is back in the 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour. Titled "Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour," it is a remastered version of the original version and will also feature new brand episodes as announced by Gearbox Software at the PAX 2016 in Seattle.
In 1996, about 20 years ago, 3D Realms developed and availed the original "Duke Nukem 3D" game with the game's protagonist American macho Duke's sole aim been to protect Earth by blasting all the hordes of horrifying aliens, Game Spot reported.
The original version which appeared on devices ranging from the ubiquitous iPad to the ill-fated Sega Saturn, will see the new game been packaged with an all new episode that features eight original levels that have been created by "Duke Nukem 3D's" original designers. It comes complete with new music and new voice lines from Duke Voice actor Jon St. John too and according to Scott Warr, Gearbox Software publishing producer nothing beats the 1996 original.
And to maintain this legacy, his team--which has several members of the original development team assembled the "Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour." This is a definitive update that keeps the original flavor through implementing only important handful of visual improvements and delivering eight new stages with a mission to recapture the series' early glory.
According to Digital Spy, due to Technology advancements since 1996, the "Duke Nukem 3D Anniversary Edition" will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (via Steam) platforms for $19.99. The release will also see the visuals and frame rate receive an update too, as part of its makeover.
Speaking of the re-release, Randy Pitchford, Gearbox Software president said it was a rare and incredible development.
"Duke Nukem 3D" has been re-released quite a few times over the years, most notably is the Megaton Edition that was made available on Good Old Games.
"Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour" will be released Oct. 11 for PS4, P and Xbox One.
